In 2004, Joy returned home after attending the premiere of one of our films and composed a stirring and hauntingly beautiful ballad called "Poor Man's Greed." It would be another year before we met Joy and became aware of her long and accomplished muscial career. As it so happened, we were going through a period of deep disillusionment, and when she shared Poor Man's Greed with us, it was as if someone had struck a match in a cave that had previously been devoid of light. The song was so true and real, capturing the essence of the sadness, courage, and resolute idealism associated with every quest for justice.

With this extraordinary artistic work, Joy planted in our hearts a potent seed of renewal and hope. While we were far from emerging from our difficulties, this song, and her offer to donate its use to our next film, was the sign we needed that something new was coming to life. "Poor Man's Greed" was in fact the very first element of what would become PEACEABLE KINGDOM: THE JOURNEY HOME. The musical score came to include three other donated songs from Joy's album, THE PIRATE OF EEL PIE. Just as Kevin Bartlett’s music animates the film's spirit, so Joy’s music gives voice to its soul.
